Principles of Analgesic Treatment

Question: Discuss about the Principles of Analgesic Treatment. Answer: Introduction: As the person enters the room barefoot which has no light, he accidently kicks the metal chair. After getting hurt by the chair the person must have felt the sensations of being confused and making preconceived anxiety of getting hurt because of darkness. The pain is like a shock for him as he was not prepared for it and he fell on to the ground and tightly pressed his leg to stop the pain. The pain of big thump in his leg was so severe that tears rolled down his cheeks and he yelled loud for the help. The intensity of pain was so high that the person thought he has broken his toe. The persons friend came to him and immediately switched on the light and saw the person lying on the floor with tears in his eyes and shouting with pain. The person asked his friend to check his toes condition, the friend softly touches the persons toe and finds that his toe is swollen and it took seconds to understand that the person has broken his toe. The friend immediately brought the ice pack for him to give the relief from the pain and gave him support to move and take rest on the couch. Then he gave the person a pain killer which could help him to alleviate the pain and swelling in the toe (World Health Organisation, 2011). The friend placed the persons toe higher on the couch by placing some pillows beneath the leg so that swelling stops increasing (APS, 2011). Lastly the friend calls the hospital for an ambulance and took the person to the hospital where he consulted the doctor who did the x-ray of his toe and find a fracture and proceeded with the further treatment. To avoid this accident, the very first thing that person should do is to walk with wide open eyes so that he can at least see the specks or shadows of the light in the room and might avoid hitting any substance and harming himself (Lan et al. 2011). When the person knows that he is walking in a dark room, he should have open his arms wide and could have sensed the walls and furniture of the room. As the person knows that he is walking with any slippers on, he should walk slowly and feel the floor and try to focus and alter all his senses of touching or falling of any object. As the person is bare feet, he felt the ceramic tile of the floor which made him realize that he is in the wrong room because in the living room there always been a rug, so he immediately took a turn and forgot about the metal chair placed in the room and in hurry he slipped across the chair by kicking his right foot into one of the legs of the iron chair and ended with a fracture in his right toe. So what we hav e learned from this incident is to never walk in a dark room and that too barefoot.
